چکیده

It is expected that due to the new European Union regulation focus on waste management, managing kitchen will become more important in future, especially households. Therefore, it crucial develop user-friendly and odour-free containers store waste. The study aimed test effectiveness of composts’ biochar reducing noxious odours volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released during storage. Various amounts compost (0%, 1%, 5%, 10%) were added food samples incubated for seven days at 20 °C. VOCs analysed 1, 3, 7 storage simulation process. results indicated adding 5–10% significantly reduced emissions 70% detected compounds. Furthermore, can be used eliminate potential odour components specific dangerous such as ethylbenzene, o-xylene, acetic acid, naphthalene. A with a unique composition was particularly effective could an excellent solution eliminating containers.

Particulate matter emissions from biochar-amended soils as a potential tradeoff to the negative emission potential

Novel carbon sequestration strategies such as large-scale land application of biochar may provide sustainable pathways to increase the terrestrial storage of carbon. Biochar has a long residence time in the soil and hence comprehensive studies are urgently needed to quantify the environmental impacts of large-scale biochar application. In particular, black carbon emissions from soils amended wi...

Characterizing Biochar as Alternative Sorbent for Oil Spill Remediation

Biochar (BC) was characterized as a new carbonaceous material for the adsorption of toluene from water. The tested BC was produced from pine wood gasification, and its sorption ability was compared with that of more common carbonaceous materials such as activated carbon (AC). Both materials were characterized in terms of textural features and sorption abilities by kinetic and equilibrium tests....

The potential of food preservation to reduce food waste.

While we state it seems unthinkable to throw away nearly a third of the food we produce, we still continue to overlook that we are all very much part of this problem because we all consume meals. The amount of food wasted clearly has an impact on our view of what we think a sustainable meal is and our research suggests food waste is a universal function that can help us determine the sustainabi...
